Use headphones for binaural beats. Not recommended for people with epilepsy or photosensitive conditions. Do not use while driving or operating machinery.
What is Sympatheia?
Sympatheia is a brainwave entrainment tool. By listening through headphones to specific audio patterns, it gently encourages your brain toward particular mental states — deep rest, meditation, creative flow, or sharp focus.
How binaural beats work
Play 200 Hz in your left ear and 210 Hz in your right, and your brain perceives the 10 Hz difference as a slow pulse — and gradually synchronises to it. This is called the frequency-following response. Different beat frequencies correspond to different brain states: delta for deep sleep, theta for hypnagogic meditation, alpha for calm alertness, beta for active thinking. Headphones are essential — the stereo separation between ears is what creates the effect.
What you can do
Mix seven simultaneous audio layers: binaural beats, isochronic pulses (work without headphones), coloured noise, a procedural ocean soundscape, an ambient file player, a sub-bass sine tone (physical grounding; 40 Hz sits at the gamma boundary for ASSR stimulus), and sacred-frequency tones with configurable ADSR envelopes and stereo shimmer. Enable Harmonics in the tone row to add an octave and perfect fifth partial to every tone — always consonant, gives a singing-bowl quality. Enable Carrier Drift or Beat Drift to slow-modulate the frequencies — the info bar shows the actual live values as they wander. Use the brainwave presets or build a custom Session Sequence that ramps through any frequency arc with timed tone cues. Share any sequence with the ⧉ Link button. Space plays and stops; arrow keys nudge the beat frequency.
Try: Chakra Bowl ✦
A 28-minute guided session — seven chakras, four minutes each. The binaural beat traces the same alpha→theta→alpha arc as Chakra Reset, but the tone layer uses singing bowl character: inharmonic modes that bloom in slowly, thin to a pure fundamental over the hold, then re-introduce upper partials with an arrival bell at each new chakra. Each step layers a drone (starts during the ramp), an arrival bell (5 s after the ramp completes), a swell accent at the mid-point, and a quiet marker bell. Enable Session Bells for a three-strike opening and closing. Find the Chakra Bowl button in the Brainwave Presets section.

The Monroe Institute has pioneered research into altered states of consciousness through audio guidance since the 1970s, including the Hemi-Sync® binaural beat technology that inspired much of this field. Their work remains the most rigorous scientific reference for this kind of practice.
